Welcome to the website of the Swedish Federation of Self- & Independent Publishers (Egenutgivarna).
We were founded in 2011 by a group of forward looking authors and small indie publishers who felt the need to increase their knowledge about writing and publishing, but also to share the cost of exhibiting in Scandinavia’s largest book event of the year, the Gothenburg Book Fair.
We’ve grown a lot since our humble beginnings at a table that one night after the book fair, with over 170 independent authors and publishers on our member roster, and we’re literally growing on a daily basis. Just like we’ve seen in the USA and elsewhere, self- and indie publishing is growing rapidly, and is changing the publishing business radically, as authors take control of their own publication schedules and ask for higher royalties.
As the literary industry is changing, as publishing houses feel the need to adapt (or go out of business) to the new business models, authors need to become more aware of their changing role, not only in writing great prose, poetry, children’s books or non-fiction, but also as marketeers, publishers, and promoters.
We aim to help, and we welcome new members into the fold, whatever your writing aspirations are.
